Exactly a week ago today I arrived to Tirana, Albania!!! Say what!!! Is this even real life!

This month we are working with the Church of the Nazarene here in Tirana, Albania. We are working with the pastor and his wife. These next few weeks we will be getting the kindergarten ready for school to start on September 3rd! We are painting a lot of the walls but also doing some cleaning. Also this week a group from Holland joined us! Then the church goes to camp next week so we are not sure what we are going to do that week. Then the last few days we are here we will be doing VBS. We have to plan it all, theme, music, and activities! All the other times we are hanging out with the kids from the community. We have played soccer with them, danced, and just hung out and had some conversations with them.

So far in this first week a lot has happened!

  1. We ran out of water, then we broke the water pump so now we have no water. I went 5 days without showering! Finially tonight I went a bought a 6 liter jug of water and took a bucket shower.
  2. A giant storm came through and almost flooded our apartment.
  3. Our apartment door broke and locked us in our apartment for about 30 minutes before church on Sunday morning.
  4. I shared my testimony at church!
  5. I became homesick!! Yes I didn’t even make it a week before I got homesick. I decided not to contact home every day even thought we have wifi at our apartment because being in constant communication back home makes building relationship and community here harder and then it makes me miss you all that much more. So I have been trying to limit how much contact I have with you all, hopfully as the weeks go by that will change.

Other fun things we did was tour the city of Tirana!

Ate some interesting food!

And learned what living in community is really like!!
